One of my favorites is www.biography.com for researching people.(Carolyn)
A database that has a lot of choices is Gale's Opposing Viewpoints, which has opinion essays, magazine articles, etc. I also think Newsbank is easy to use.
I try to direct students to sites like pbs.org, nytimes.com, and npr.org. I know that these sites are reputable.
I like to use Middle Search Plus (from Ebsco) with upper elementary students. They can find full text magazine articles, often with pictures. It also has an image bank. -Patti
Nettrekker is a great resource for students. The web sites listed have been screened.
